TNP: Lend me your earsMDIS in the News
When Miss Nicolette Lorraine (above) says she found the love of her life at university, she is referring to her passion for public speaking.
She stumbled upon it while pursuing her bachelor’s degree at the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS), which she completed in May.
Miss Lorraine, 22, who will join Singapore Press Holdings’ Money FM radio station as a radio producer this month, says: “As a super expressive person, my passion lies in public speaking and in emceeing... When I get accolades and praise from the people around me, I feel like a winner.”
START OF SOMETHING NEW
Broadcast media was her favourite among the three main branches of mass communication she studied during her diploma course in Republic Polytechnic. The other branches were journalism and public relations.
She enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Broadcast Media Production (Top-up) awarded by Teesside University (UK) in partnership with MDIS.
She says her lecturers were supportive and open, especially the head of her school, Ms Karen Ong, who offered valuable career advice and guidance.
DEVELOPING HER SKILLS
Miss Lorraine joined Red Radio, the radio unit of the MDIS Media Club, and this earned her to do a month-long internship with the Money FM radio station, leading to a full-time job.
She says: “For those passionate about broadcast media, MDIS is the place to nurture and develop your skills. Studying here has been one of the best experiences of my life.”
