New HeightsMDIS in the News

Accomplished para-equestrian Gemma Foo, who was part of Singapore’s equestrian team at the Rio 2016 and London 2012 Paralympic Games, has a chance to soar outside the sporting arena.

The Advanced Diploma in Mass Communications student at the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) School of Media & Communications (SMC) was awarded an Oklahoma City University (OCU) undergraduate scholarship last month. OCU is the American university partner of MDIS. Ms Foo, 22, will start on the SMC Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with concentration in Mass Communications awarded by OCU after completing her advanced diploma this year.

“I’m looking forward to the three-week residency part of the course. I am very keen to participate in TV programme production training and get to know more about what goes on behind the scenes,” said Ms Foo.

MDIS has been running the Bachelor of Arts degree programme since 1992. Taught by senior-level OCU faculty with extensive teaching and professional experience, it is the “first and most established American mass communications programme” here.
