It was a night of celebration for the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) and two of its student designers’ as their creations were chosen by local celebrity, Pan Ling Ling for The Star Awards 2018, a premier television awards ceremony honouring MediaCorp Singapore’s best and brightest acting talents. 

The two student designers, Lu Wen Ting from China and Agata Maureen from Indonesia, are first year Fashion Design degree students at the MDIS School of Fashion and Design.

"When my dress was selected by well-known local celebrity Pan Ling Ling, it was an unforgettable moment in my life as a student designer. MDIS gave me the opportunity to participate in a competition and as a result of that, I got to design a dress chosen by Pan Ling Ling for the Star Awards 2018’s red carpet. I learnt a lot of things that could only be taught by experience and I am grateful for the opportunities given to me by the School to showcase my talent,” said Agata Maureen from Indonesia.

“I was honestly shocked when I received news that my design had been chosen by Pan Ling Ling. I recognised immediately that this was a very rare opportunity and a big achievement for me, to dress a top local celebrity for such a prestigious awards ceremony! This felt like a dream! I am very grateful to MDIS and MediaCorp for the opportunity and trust placed in me,” shared Lu Wen Ting from China.
