MDIS Career Fair 2018Latest News

It put together an on-campus career fair and it was held in the MDIS SAMTAS hall on 1 August, from 11am – 4pm. 

The tagline this year was “Creating Infinite Possibilities for Success”.

MDIS’ career fair aims to connect potential employers with suitable candidates. The on-campus career fair was open to students and MDIS alumni, and provided a platform where they could seek out job opportunities as well as network. Over 42 exhibitors from various industries, including companies such as Uniqlo, Rotary Engineering, Millennium Hotels & Resorts, Dentsu Aegis, Singapore Press Holdings and many more, were present. Close to 500 participants turned up and so it proved to be an exciting afternoon of engaging interactions between participants and potential employers.  

In conjunction with the fair, three speakers from the industry were invited to share their insights on career development. Deputy Director of Young NTUC, Chong Xianming spoke about how candidates could pitch themselves for career success. He shared tips on building one’s personal brand and ‘selling’ oneself to potential employers. Senior Recruitment Consultant at SThree, Koh Jing How shared tips on how to stand out from the competition and be the most sought after candidate in the job market. Renowned hair stylist and co-founder of Salon Vim, Gary Chew conducted a workshop and shared hair styling tips for different types of interviews.

Marina Mandarin Hotel, one of the exhibitors, commented that the fair was well organised and had a great variety of participants. GTI Asia also shared that the participants whom they had interacted with were proactive and asked many salient questions. Participants too shared that the fair provided an excellent mix of industries and showcased diverse jobs and vacancies.

The MDIS Career Fair continues to serve as an important platform for MDIS students, alumni and employers to mingle and engage in meaningful discussion on career opportunities. Look out for the next career fair in 2019!
