Inaugural Kolej MDIS Malaysia Convocation Ceremony 2018Latest News

The graduands were elated to receive their diplomas after three years of rigorous education that included classroom discussions, research, internship programmes, student forums, workshops and seminars. All of which have prepared them well to meet challenges in the workplace and succeed in their chosen career.

The inaugural convocation ceremony was presided over by Dr Eric Kuan, Chairman of the Board of Governance of Kolej MDIS Malaysia, and Dr Ahmad Magad, Chairman of the MDIS Senate. Mr Tan Kah Hoe, Secretary, MDIS Senate and MDIS Trustee; Mr A. Subramanian, Senior Director, Finance; Ms Jesline Wong, Senior Director, Communications; and Ms Joanne Oei, Managing Director of EduCity and the Board of Directors, were present for this special occasion too. 

The graduation commenced with a live gamelan welcoming the academicians, graduands, platform party and Dr Eric Kuan. This was followed by the Malaysia national anthem and Johor State anthem.

Dr Eric Kuan then declared the ceremony open by reading out the inauguration announcement. The ceremony proceeded with a prayer recital by the CEO of Kolej MDIS Malaysia, Prof Dato' Dr Syed Ahmed Hussein. Dr Kuan then presented the scrolls to the graduands.

Special Awards and prizes were presented by Guest-of-Honour, Mr Tan Kah Hoe, and distinguished guest, Ms Joanne Jacinta Oei, for the following categories and graduands: 

  • Best Student for Diploma in Tourism Management - Ms Michelle Lim Sheut Yee
  • Best Student for Diploma in Accounting - Ms Vivian Then Jin Ting
  • Best Student for Diploma in Business Management - Yin Cheng Sheng
  • Best Student for Diploma in Mass Communications - Chong Shin Ni
  • Best Student for Diploma in International Business - Koo Chee Wei
  • Best Student for Diploma in Marketing - Teoh Boon Yuan
  • Kolej MDIS Malaysia High Achiever Award and EduCity’s Top Performing Student Award - Michelle Lim Sheut Yee

The top performing student, Michelle Lim Sheut Yee delivered her speech with a gratitude poem about her education journey. This was followed by a speech from Dr Eric Kuan, who urged the graduates not to forget their value systems and work ethics as these will mould their character for a good future. The ceremony came to a close thereafter with the recession of the platform party and graduates. Our heartiest congratulations to all our graduates!
