The 3rd MDIS – Northumbria University Graduation Ceremony, held on 21 October at the Stamford Ballroom, Raffles City Convention Centre, saw more than 300 graduands and guests celebrate the momentous occasion.
The ceremony was graced by Guest-of-Honour, Dr Intan Azura Mokhtar, Member of Parliament for Ang Mo Kio GRC, and Northumbria University representatives including Dr Kevin Robertson, Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences; Ms Ruth Crabtree, Head of International Development, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences; and Dr Fawad Inam, Associate Professor, Faculty of Engineering and Environment.
In his address, Dr Eric Kuan, MDIS President emphasised the need to acquire new industry knowledge and skills to remain relevant in a highly globalised and technology-driven corporate world. Guest-of-Honour, Dr Intan Azura Mokhtar shared that with technological advancements, there will always be new initiatives in developing competencies in the workforce. She added, “The focus would be to learn how to use new technology and existing data in novel and creative ways.”
The top student, Syed Yousuff s/o Jakkariya Mohamed encouraged fellow graduates to start a new journey and to make a difference to the world through their endeavours.
