Programme Objectives
This programme covers current trends in business and marketing. The course focuses on professional and personal development from a range of perspectives addressing elements of ethical, sustainable, responsible and digital business practices. In addition, experiential learning elements throughout the programme will be shaped by industry and learning will be enhanced through the digital and technological approaches.
This course focuses on:
- Contemporary areas of business and marketing in a digital world; the role of business and how its' functions are managed and integrated to respond and reflect society and the business community (local, national and global).
- How business is structured including the practices and processes which support problem solving and evidence based decision making which influence and has an impact upon customers and clients.
- The integration of business policies and strategies which promote corporate social responsibility which are ethical and lead to best practice approaches for managing the perceptions and perspectives of customers and clients is.
- The Marketing policies, strategies and practices which enable and support the customers and clients within a digital market-place is also included.
The overall aims of the course are to:
- Explain and examine the major theories, practices and concepts related to finance, marketing, business organisations and society in a changing world.
- Identify, explain and consider how digital aspects of business and marketing impact on organisations.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the inter and intra-personal skills, attitudes and behaviours that create an inter-culturally competent, career- ready business graduate and explore their professional identity.
- Analyse a range of theories and conceptual frameworks from appropriate disciplines relevant to business and marketing management.
- Analyse and debate the ethical, digital, sustainable practices which impact upon business and management within organisations.
- Debate, analyse and critique theories, practices and concepts relating to managing a project, people, finance and markets.
- Articulate and evaluate the professional attributes and behaviours required to be a global career ready business graduate

- Other PEl's qualifications (which are deemed by the University to be suitable as pathway programmes for entry onto the Year 1 of the University course) with entry requirement of 10 years of formal foreign education OR
- MDIS International Foundation Diploma in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Art
For Year 2 Entry:
- MDIS Diploma in Management Studies OR
- Higher National Certificate in a business-related discipline OR
- Non-business related Diploma from local/overseas polytechnic with entry requirement of 10 years of formal education OR
- Business-related PEls qualification (which are deemed by the University to be equivalent to Year 1 of the University course) with entry requirement of 12 years of formal education
